| Edward J. Hoff joined IBM as Vice President,
Learning in May, 2001. In this role, Ted is responsible for leading
learning initiatives across IBM, developing and delivering management
training and giving functional guidance for employee, technical, and
sales training, certification, and technology-enabled learning. He
is a member of IBM's Senior Leadership Group and the HR Global Leadership
Team.
Prior to joining IBM, Ted was President of Leadership Development
Inc. (LDI), a management education and business consulting firm
he founded in 1998. Over the past 11 years, Ted has personally led
learning initiatives for Verizon, GTE, Citibank, United Technologies,
Cigna, Johnson & Johnson, CSX and PepsiCo. Prior to founding
LDI, he was a partner in The Center for Executive Development, based
in Cambridge, Massachusetts. GTE won the ASTD “Excellence
in Practice” awards for two different development initiatives
in which Ted was deeply involved.
Ted serves as a Director of Courier Corporation, a printing and
publishing company, and as Chairman of the Compensation Committee
of the board. He also serves as a Director of MassINC, the leading
public policy think tank in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, and
as a Director of the John F. Kennedy Library Foundation.
During the 1980s, Ted was a member of the Harvard Business School
faculty teaching in the marketing area and conducting research in
the areas of strategy, marketing, and sales leadership. While at
Harvard, Ted authored or co-authored Harvard Business Review articles
and numerous case studies. During that time, he helped lead the
efforts to introduce and integrate the use of PCs into the MBA curriculum.
He subsequently co-authored a textbook on the use of PCs and Lotus
1-2-3 in marketing analysis.
Ted received his MBA from Harvard Business School, graduating as
a Baker Scholar, and a BS degree from the Georgetown University
School of Foreign Service, graduating Phi Beta Kappa.
Prior to attending business school, Ted has served as Cabinet Secretary
for the Governor of New Jersey and a legislative assistant for a
U.S. Congressman.
