JOBS for AMERICA'S GRADUATES

JAG Hurricane Fund Donation

The Jobs for America’s Graduates-South Carolina (JAG-SC) State Career Association, comprised of a representative delegate from each of the 25 affiliated schools, annually adopts a statewide community service project.  In light of the devastating storms that impacted several of our JAG state affiliates and participants across Florida, Georgia, Texas, Louisiana and the Virgin Islands, this year the S.C. delegates decided to raise money for the JAG Hurricane Relief Fund to assist their peers across the JAG National Network. The students’ combined efforts generated a total of $1,235.28 for the storm victims.

Led by the JAG-SC State Career Association President, Iyana Cooper of South Florence High School, their initial donation of $600 was made to Lizette Llanos-Popo, the Executive Director for the Jobs for Virgin Islands Graduates.  The donation was presented while the students were in Washington, D.C., for the annual National Student Leadership Academy on Nov. 29, 2017. The remainder of the funds have been submitted to the National JAG Hurricane Relief fund for appropriate disbursement.

We are extremely proud of the students for their commitment to the needs of their extended JAG family. Schools participating in this year’s fundraising efforts included C.A. Johnson, Darlington, Lake Marion, Manning, Marion, McCormick, Mullins, Rock Hill, South Florence, Spartanburg, T.L. Hanna, Wade Hampton, West Florence and Westside High Schools as well as Belton and Honea Path Middle Schools.
