he National In-School Curriculum is comprised of 85 competency-based modules. The JAG standard requires that graduates (or completers) attain no less than the thirty-seven (37) JAG core competencies.
In-School Core Competencies
The core competencies are contained in the six
(6) competency categories:
Employers were asked to validate the core competencies
(A.1 to F.37) in the 1980's and 1990's. In the late 1990's, employers
identified and validated the non-core competencies (G.1 to H.81).
Non-Core Competencies
State Organizations are expected to require additional competencies to be attained for participants that are involved in a Multi-Year Program. The non-core categories include forty-four (44) competencies that a state or local affiliate can use to build a Multi-Year Curriculum. The three (3) non-core competency categories include:
Economic Empowerment Competencies - Competencies I.82 to I.86
The Electronic National Data Management System (e-NDMS)
is capable of tracking unique competencies as determined by the
state and/or local affiliate. It is preferred that "I"
competencies be approved by the state affiliate to assure consistency
within a state.
